Hello everyone,

I would first like to wish everyone Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year. This past year has been very good for my crafting. I served on a few DTs and shared a lot with you all. Thanks to all my followers new and old. Thanks for all the wonderful comments that you leave for me they are always inspiring. The last couple of months have been quite hectic for my and my family but I am slowly getting back into the swing of things so I promise to share more with you soon.

Let get onto this weeks Challenge from Celebrate the Occasion. We are still in a Christmas mood and we would love to see some cute Shape Cards. I thought I would made a snowman shaped card for the Challenge. I found two cute little guys and I couldn't decide between them. They are both cute, let me know what you think.

Celebrate The Occasion Challenge #38: Veteran's Day

Hello everyone,

Its time for another challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion. Our theme this week is Veteran's Day.

I have often shared that I have three sisters who are serving in the British Army and have had their share of serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. They were the inspiration for this card which I have made to celebrate all the women serving in the armies around the world.

This does not mean I do not salute all the men, brothers, husbands, fathers serving in the military, because I also have a brother in the military too.

I love the words on this stamp I think it was so appropriate for this card.

What was used:
Cricut Stand and Salute
The Paper Company Studio 'You Go Girl' Stamp Set
Cardstock: Recollections & Bazzil
Recollections Pink Camo (Green Camo in the background)
Ink

Help us show support to the vets. To all vets and families of vets THANKS for your service.

Celebrate The Occasion Challenge #36: Fall Theme

Hello Everyone,

My family and I have now moved into temporary housing in California. I am missing my old home and my friends terribly, but I am loving this CA warmth. We won't get our household stuff (and my scrapbook stuff ) until mid November. I am having weird withdrawal symptoms, but I am really excited because the home we will eventually move into will be walking distance to JoAnn's!

This project I made a few weeks ago for our weekly challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion. Our theme this week is Fall! I made my first shaker card for this challenge. The idea is you are inside looking out of a window with a oak tree outside and the leaves blowing about.

I used my Gypsy to make the base of the card and used strips of pop-dots to keep the layers apart so that the little leaves can move around when you shake the card.

Inside

I found the cutest little poem on line that I printed and put on the inside of the card. I found it here.

Falling Leaves
Little leaves fall softly down
Red and yellow, orange and brown
Whirling, twirling round and round
Falling softly to the ground

Little leaves fall softly down
To make a carpet on the ground.
Then, swish, the wind comes whistling by
And sends them dancing to the sky.

What was used:
Cricut Gypsy
Cricut Christmas Solutions (Window)
Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls (Leaves)
Cricut Paper Dolls Dress Up (Tree)
Transparency
Recollections Basics Light Blue Paper
Cardstock: Recollections, The Paper Company

Please join us at CTO, see what the DT projects and wow us with your brilliance.

Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #32: Any Occasion - Must Use Ribbon

Hello Everyone,

Its another Tuesday so there is a new challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion. This week you are challenged to use ribbon on your project and it can be Any Occasion. Remember you may have a chance  to be entered into a draw for a $25 Papertrey Ink gift certificate.

Since the challenge is to use ribbon, I wanted my ribbon to be the star of the card. The card is 5 x 7 inches. I started with a 48 inches of a 1.5 inch wide ribbon. Then I baste stitched the middle of the ribbon down the entire length of the ribbon, pulled the tread and gathered it to get the effect seen on the card. I used Fabric-tac glue to attach the ribbon to the card.

What was used:
Fabri-tac glue
DCWV Cotton Bloom Stack
Recollections Cardstock
Sunflower Yellow Rhinestones
Inkadinkado Thank You Words Stamp Set
1.5 inch satin ribbon
Fibers from my stash
Green Chalk Ink

Please visit CTO, see  all the inspiration from the design team and join us with this week's challenge. I can't wait to see what you create.

Hot Air Balloon Card

Hello everyone,

There has been a new challenge up at Celebrate the Occasion since Tuesday and the theme this week is Birthday but you 'must use a balloon' on your project. I made this simply card with a cute $1 stamp I found at JoAnns.

I love the effect of the three balloons. The middle balloon I cut out and up with popdots to have a little 3-D effect on the card. Here is a little close up of the balloons. It is a very simply card but I love the effect. My greeting is not as straight as I would have loved but it works.

What was used:
Recollection Cardstock
Martha Stewart Cool Colors School Days Paper Pack
Archival Inks in Banana, Aqua and Carnation
$1 Stamp from JoAnns
Ribbon from my local craft store

Now I have some big news to share:
I have been neglecting my blog friends and followers for the past couple of weeks because I am very busy trying to sort life out to move from MA to CA! Its crazy, scary, exciting and sad all together. I apologize for not commenting on your blogs and I have not posted on my blog as much as I usually do because we are trying to get everything sorted her.

I will still keep my post on the DT at CTO because I gave my word and luckily I can schedule my posts for when they are due so I am busy trying to make my projects and write my posts. I am not sure when I will have my scrap room set up when I get there, especially since I have two little ones I will really have to sort them out first, get them into schools, etc. I don't know what I am gonna do without my scrappy stuff for a month or two.

I hope you will bear with me for the time and I won't forget about you all and I hope you will still keep coming back to visit with me when my posts appear. The one constant in this move is that you all will be coming with me.

Thanks for all the love and support!
Thanks especially to My CTO DT members for understanding!

Animals Circle Accordion Card

Hello Everyone,

I have this idea for an accordion card and thought I would combine a couple of challenges in making it. I always like to support my girls over at Celebrate the Occasion on my week off and I thought that this would a perfect shape for my card. I have to admit I went a little picture crazy on this post but I am really proud of my card. I will have to try a square one in the future because this circle one doesn't easily stand my itself.

The scalloped circles are each 4 inches and they were welded together on my Gypsy then rotated on the page so that they could be cut. I used one of my new favorite carts for the images, Nate's ABCs. The trouble with a 4 inch working area is that the images have to be cut smaller to fit in the frame and that meant I had to cut at 1.75 to 2 inches and some of the pieces were so tiny that I could hardly see them on the mat so I had to use my markers to add details.

I am also liking the sun on each scene, which is made up of twine wrapped around a few times on a punched circle.

Nuts About Sketches # 175

Hello everyone,

Its time for another sketch over at Nuts About Sketches. Shawn has also chosen the ladies for the new DT starting in September. I did not reapply for the team so this means that my term is almost come to an end this month. I really enjoyed working with her sketches it forced me to be very productive with my scrapbooking.

This week I have continued the school theme. My daughter had a class photo taken so I decided to turn it into a page. I did not put that photo on the page when I took the picture because of all her class mates. There are three other photos on the page of her having fun in her class.

Her teachers and her friends wrote her letters and I wanted to preserve those, some of the messages were so cute. Years from now she can read them and remember her Pre-K years. One of my favorite message was from her teach Marc, he wrote "Dear Aliisa, I will remember how excited you were about: 1. Putting on your plays and 2. Everything!" This sums up my daughter perfectly!

What was used:
Cricut Accents Essential
Paper from my stash (had it for a while can't remember the brand)
Cloud 9 Designs Chipboard Alphas
Decorative Paper clips

Hope you will take some time to go the Nuts About Sketches and see the gorgeous layouts the ladies have created this week and show us what you have done with this sketch.

Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #26: Birthday Easel Card

Hello everyone,

Its time for another challenge at Celebrate the Occasion. This week's theme is Birthday Easel Card. If you haven't tried one before, this is the perfect time. I just love how easy they are to make and there are many U-Tube videos on how to make Easel Cards. I really like this one (Click HERE) by Split Coast Stampers. It is very easy to follow and you can really see how easy the technique is.

The other tutorial I used in making this card was a mini rose tutorial. I found the tutorial by Croping Queen (sorry she does not have a blog) for these roses, you can use any five petal flower. You can use a paper punch or your Cricut to create them. The best flower to use is the flower on Weddings Solution Cartridge because it is perfectly symmetrical but that is not totally neccessary. (Click HERE for tutorial). The leaves I just cut out by hand and added the details.

I will also be linking this card to:
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #73 : A Piece of Cake

What was used:
Cricut Elegant Edges (Bracket frame)
EK Success Retro Flower Paper Punch (5 punch for each rose)
My Pink Stamper Everyday Life Stamp set
Martha Stewart Vintage Girl Paper Pack
Martha Stewart Modern Festive Paper Pack
Martha Stewart Modern Festive Chipboard Cupcake
Recollection Cardstock
American Crafts Stamp Marker: Cricket
Divine Twine Green Apple
Colorbox Cat's eye Chalk Inks
Bling from stash

I hope you will visit Celebrate the Occasion and see the beautiful Easel Cards DT2 have made to inspire you. Remember there is a chance to be entered into our August drawing for a $25 Paper Trey Ink gift certificate.
